Chris Rene BIO: Chris amazed the x-factor judges and audience alike with a great performance of his original melodic R&B track “Young Homie.” Not only did Chris Rene show off some undeniable talent and seclusive rapping skills, he also brings a compelling background with him. The trash collector (who halls trash), who on the day of his frist audition had been sober for 70 days, just got out of rehab and is now trying to make a living for himself and staying clean.
That’s not all there is to know about Chris, though. Here’s what else we were able to dig up on him through careful Internet stalki–errr, research.
Musical talent runs in the family. His grandfather, Leon Rene, was a songwriter back in the 30’s – 50’s — his most famous composition is probably “Rockin’ Robin.” Leon’s son, Chris’s father Rafael “Googie” Rene, was a moderately successful jazz and soul singer in the 50’s and 60’s. These days, Chris’s sister Gina and brother Gabriel are both members of an electronica group called Soulstice.
Sure has, and he has an album on iTunes! Soul’d Out, which was released in 2009, shows that Chris has more than one great song in him. With a little polish from the Factor, dude’s got definite potential for success.
Drugs were a part of Chris’s life for a long time before he got sober. According to police records, he was busted for possession in both 2002 and 2007. We’re really glad he managed to clean up his act in time to audition for the Factor; the only high we want to hear about Chris getting is an album going very high on the charts, right?
He loves his fans! Most of his Facebook has been wiped, but there’s a post from a few days ago in which Chris says “To all my Fans i Love you and am so thankful!” Which is very sweet, but, um, of course he loves us, because we’re awesome.

Favorite Album: “Recovery” – Eminem
On how friendly nudging got him to reconsider his musical path: For a long while people would tell me, “Why aren’t you on one of those competition singing shows?” They would say, “Why isn’t your music on the radio?” They’d be asking me, “Why, why, why?” And I’m like, “I like music. I make music. I haven’t met the right people yet.” And so it was like pressure to me. I was supposed to do this. I didn’t have any excuse not to do this.
On overcoming initial doubts about “The X Factor”: I felt like I wanted to be an amazing artist, and amazing artists don’t come on shows like this…Then I saw a guy named James Durbin who’s from Santa Cruz (Rene’s hometown) and he was on “American Idol” and he got to the Top 4. And he’s in the newspaper all the time. And I’m like, “He did it?! Oh man I’m going.”
If he could perform any song on “The X Factor”: A mash up between “Where is the love?” (Black Eyed Peas) and “I just called to say I love you” (Stevie Wonder)
On the biggest challenge of the singing competition: Every week is the biggest challenge, no matter what. Going up there and trying to do your best. It’s been a challenge the whole time.
Your bio is impressive as well as your talent after all it’s in the genes.Good luck in all your endeavors congrats on your recovery stay

You move me. I am a successful businessman now and grew up poor. You story brings me to tears. I started life as a blue collar child that was physicaly abused by my father.
I faced my own alchohol addiction in college and only have GOD to thank for the ability to overcome. You story brings me to tears.
I find value in your stength and look to my Marine Corp’s drill instructor when I watch your x factor video. I want to mail you my Naval Officer’s sword and only ask you think of the strength you possess when you look at the sword you have earned.
