Chris Rene, A young Inspiration.
When The X Factor USA debuted, a few people stood out immediately. Some for their classic talent, some for their look-at-me outrageousness, but Chris Rene’s first appearance was a genuine moment of magic. Here was someone telling us there were just seventy days sober, who hauled trash for a living, and who was going to do an original song. It could have been laughable, or worse, forgettable, but “Young Homie” became one of the show’s iconic moments, and Chris Rene won millions of hearts, riding that wave of affection all the way to the Final 7. It’s even conceivable he could win the whole thing, the five million dollar recording contract, the Pepsi commercial, etc. But… the closer the competition gets to its conclusion, the higher the stakes. Does Chris Rene, who so recently struggled with the disease of addiction, have more to overcome than the others? Wetpaint Entertainment spoke with Celebrity Rehab‘s Jennifer Gimenez on this and on how he might handle it if he doesn’t win.
