Chris Rene wowed the judges with his original rap which detailed his recovery from addiction during the first-ever audition episode. He co-wrote the track with sister Gina Rene who also auditioned for the show but was cut at the Boot Camp stage. Read more about it……

When asked by The Hollywood Reporter if he would ever release the track, he said: “The feedback I’ve gotten is that people are waiting for it to come out on iTunes but I have to re-record it no matter [what] happens in this competition.”
The singer added that he would like to produce the track himself, explaining: “If they wanted to get some big producer on it, I’d have to pay for it so I could just do it myself and make it exactly how I want it to sound.
“I produced that and it touched millions of people, so I see no reason to not produce it myself.”

X Factor‘s Top 9 took to the stage again on Tuesday night for a Thanksgiving-themed episode which saw each of the remaining acts giving thanks to someone who had made a difference in their lives.
Chris Rene chose to thank his rehab counsellor Tim, saying that he had saved his life. He detailed how he had crashed his car a few months ago and nearly died, and it prompted him to take a taxi straight from the hospital to the rehab centre where he met Tim.
Rene put his own twist on The Beatles classic ‘Let It Be‘ during his performance, which then morphed into his own ‘Young Homie’.
Nicole Scherzinger pointed out the “powerfulness” of his music, saying he is an “example and blessing” in the competition, while Paula Abdul said it was “so nice to see [him] get back to where we fell in love with you in the first place”.
Simon Cowell said that he didn’t think The Beatles song worked but ‘Young Homie’ reminded everyone of why they like him so much. He added that Rene might have helped thousands of others in the same place realise they can turn their lives around.
Rene’s mentor LA Reid simply said: “I believe in you.”
